MONTAG, Vesta M. (née Venter), 92, of Cincinnati, Ohio, went with Jesus on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Born on May 4, 1933, in Franklin County, Indiana, to Nelson and Clyta Venter (née King). Vesta grew up alongside her eight siblings: Lavon (Bernard) Fields, Joann (the late Robert) Bode, Glenna (the late Ronald) Hoog, the late Kenneth (Phyllis) Russell, the late Deloris (Justin) Hunter, the late Edward Venter, the late Eilene (John) Burris, and the late Nelson Venter Jr.
A deeply creative soul, she had a remarkable ability to bring beauty and function together in everything she did. Whether through her cooking, gardening, sewing, crafting, or countless other projects, she expressed herself with originality and care. Her hands were always busy making something useful, thoughtful, or simply beautiful.
She was also known for her willful determination and her readiness to help others. She opened her home to anyone in need, cared for the sick with compassion and strength, and was always there to lend a hand. Her support was practical, her presence steady, and her impact lasting.
Married October 8, 1955, she shared nearly 70 years with her husband, Thomas Montag. Together they raised a large family: Thomas Montag, Bruce Montag, Kevin Montag, Cynthia Noelting, Douglas Montag, Kristy Montag, and Steven Montag. She was a grandmother to Jason (Angela) Montag, Chad Montag, Joseph (Amanda) Montag, Susan Montag, Sandra Noelting, Michael Noelting, Lynnette Montag, Amberly (Marcus) Moore, Whitney Montag, Taylor (Trey Hanson) Montag, and the late Ryan Montag. She was also proud to have 19 great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered with respect and admiration by all who knew her—for her strength, her creativity, and her unwavering selflessness.
