In an Italian-Irish home, Terry quietly outshone the more obvious personalities with his humorous and humble ways. He is remembered by loved ones as a man who walked the earth giving joy to those around him in spite of his own dark battle with depression. No competition or strife existed in his heart and no complaining could be heard from his lips; only quick and sometimes dark humor served to lighten his and another's day. Terry's style of humor fueled the comedic tastes of our family. He was our Jerry Lewis. His childlike spirit humbled us all and when Terry was faced in late life with a devastating diagnosis of ALS, he minimized it by joking about his uncontrollable arm; acting out his signature throat-clasping move that could have been a scene out of a Mel Brooks movie. He assured his family that ALS could certainly never be worse than his darkest day of depression. Terry lived with courage through decades of emotional pain, and what he might have seen as a devastating reward for his endurance he instead accepted with dignity; choosing to cope by looking at life through his God-given goofy lenses and helping us all to see.
