Ronald P. Spiess

October 10, 1934 — February 4, 2024

Green Township

Visitation and Mass have been postponed.

Ronald P. Spiess, loving husband for 60 years of Kay Ann (nee Kruer). Devoted father of Libbey M., and Ronald J.

He is survived by his younger sisters Mary Montgomery (David) and Betty O'Neal (Tom), and sister in law Penny Spiess. He was preceded in death by his siblings David Spiess, Debbie Duncan, Jackie Wells, and Phyllis Stump. Ron leaves behind many nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, and caregivers.

Ron was a graduate of Williamsburg High School where he was a star basketball player. He later joined the United States Marine Corp. where he served from 1954-1957. He later visited the military monuments in 2019 when he traveled with other Veterans and Libbey on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Ron was an avid sports fan, and loved attending sporting events. He was often cheering on Xavier University’s basketball team, and all sports at Mount St. Joseph University. He loved the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds and was prone to quoting the old left hander, Joe Nuxhall. Ron was an expert euchre player, often bringing home the grand prize from his many evenings at the Green Township Senior Center.

Ron was an avid gardener. It was believed that he inherited his green thumb from his beloved Mother, Marie Lavanier Spiess. He had a beautiful garden and loved spending time outdoors caring for his flowers. He loved making flower pots for friends as much as he loved sharing his trademark smile and shining his light on others.

Ron never met a stranger. He treated others with great respect and kindness. Rons absence will leave a void in the lives of those he leaves behind.

Visitation and Mass have been postponed.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis TN. 38105-9959 or Marine Toys for Tots Cincinnati
