Robert Edward Rauen

RAUEN, Robert E. Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty Rose" Rauen (nee Holtman) for 65 years long. Devoted father of Joe (Laurie) Rauen, Martha (Tom) Hardin, Emily (Jeff) Tout, Peggy (Mark) Sucher, Connie (Bill) Turpin and Kathy (Rick) Koch. Also a proud grandpa of 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 87 years of age. Robert was born in Covington, Kentucky on February 13, 1927. He served in the US Army Air Force in WWII from October 1945-June 1948. He married his childhood sweetheart Betty, on November 27, 1948. As their family grew they moved from Covington to Cincinnati (Western Hills) in 1960 and opened a meat market that grew to the establishment of two IGA Foodliners (Delhi/Price Hill). Robert enjoyed the outside activities of golfing, softball (OLL Old Timers), boating and camping. In 1986 he won the WHCC Senior Golf Classic. Family camping was a big part of life's leisure time. Bob and Betty became world travelers seeing 6 of the 7 natural wonders of the world and more. Later in retirement they became Ft. Meyers, Florida snow birds. As part of the "Greatest Generation" Bob live life to the fullest and his spirited attitude got him through the difficult moments. He is admired and loved by many. Visitation Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2832 Rosebud Drive, on Saturday from 9:30AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM. Burial immediately following at St. Joseph New Cemetery.
