Philip J. Hock

March 9, 1927 — September 18, 2022

Philip J. Hock, Beloved husband of the late Gloria (nee Elsen) Hock for 65 years until her passing in 2015 and Linda (Reilman) Hock for the past 2 years. Devoted father of Philip III (Peggy), Thomas (Mariann), Robert, Richard (Cathy), Peggy (Steve) Dehne, David (Leanne), and John (Meg). Cherished grandfather of Missy (Shawn) Parke, Brian (Jennifer), Erin (Scott) Brinkman, Julie (Kevin) Hendrickson, Becky (Chris) Ketchum, Brittany (Drew) Garvin, Grant, Megan (Cory) Ramsey, Shannon (Derek) Broyles, Lauren Dehne, Brendan, Matt, J.D., Emily and Andrew. Great-Grandfather of 14. Dear brother of Joan (late Dick) Schulte and Howard (late Joan) Hock. Brother-in-law of Frank (Jean) Elsen and the late Bob (late Marian) Elsen. Phil was born March 9, 1927 to Philip J. and Edna (nee Sperber) Hock. Upon graduation from St. Xavier High School, he joined the US Army and proudly served in WWII. After returning from the war, he joined his father in the family business, Worthmore Food Products. Leading Worthmore for many years, making their signature Mock Turtle Soup, Phil still worked well into his 90s. He was a long time parishioner of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, a dedicated member of the Purcell Council of Knights of Columbus, and was inducted into the De La Salle Society. A lifelong Reds enthusiast, sports were always a big part of his life, as a participant and as a fan. Playing cards with family and friends, games of chance and his garden gave him much joy. He was a charmer with a ready smile (except when the camera was on him!) and had a great sense of humor. Along with his love and commitment for family, Phil lived life with a deep faith, integrity, generosity and compassion. Phil will be dearly missed. He passed peacefully on September 18, 2022 at the age of 95. Visitation at Meyer Funeral Home, 5864 Bridgetown Rd., on Friday, Sept. 30 from 5:00-7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Gonzaga, 4366 Bridgetown Rd., on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 AM.
