Paul Cannon Benedict

BENEDICT, Paul Cannon. Beloved husband of Mary Anne Benedict (née Schmidt) for 46 years. Loving father of Paul C. (Heather Lawrence) Benedict Jr. and James T.(Melissa) Benedict. Devoted grandfather of Samantha, George, James Jr. and Owen. Dear brother of John (Kathy) Benedict, Anne (Richard) Hovland and Philip Benedict (Susan Rounds) and brother in law of Thomas J. (Linda) Schmidt Jr. and William J. (Marybeth) Schmidt. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

An avid golfer, Paul was a member of Miami View Golf Club for 32 years. He was club champion 4 times, senior club champion once, served as Club President, and was inducted into its hall of fame in 2016. In 2014, after being diagnosed with Stage IV cancer, Paul shot his age (66). According to the Internet (so we know it's true), only about 9 in 1 million golfers ever shoot their age. And that's when they're fully healthy. Paul was one in a million.

Passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 68 years of age. Visitation on Saturday at Bellarmine Chapel, Xavier University, 3800 Victory Pkwy, from 11:30 AM until time of Catholic Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas J. Schmidt '35 Memorial Scholarship Fund or the All For One Club, both c/o Xavier University. B.J.
