MCCULLOUGH, Monica (nee Maguire) passed away peacefully at Madonna Manor on Friday, September 18th. Monica was born in Sydare, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland one of seven children to Patrick and Ellen (Dunne) Maguire on February 2, 1927. She graduated with a nursing degree from Belfast City Hospital. She came to New York City in 1950 and worked and at Columbia Medical Center. She met her husband Jim at a Catholic Social Meeting and married him in 1954. They moved to Cincinnati in 1955 and raised seven children at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish where she was involved in the Legion of Mary, Bereavement Committee and Eucharistic Ministry.
After raising her children, Monica worked as a RN at the V.A. Hospital for 18 years. She was a devoted and compassionate nurse, a profession she loved. In their retirement she and Jim traveled extensively including many cruises and trips back to home to her family farm in County Fermanagh. Monica enjoyed her children, grandchildren, her Irish heritage, her beautiful garden and her Catholic faith.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Jim in 2019. She is survived by her seven children Veronica (Rick Sheppard) Jim (Beth) McCullough, Irene (Bob Pritchett), Patrick (Peggy) McCullough, Monica, Michael (Mary Jo) McCullough, Ellen (Steve Suetholz) and her 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 1, 2020, 9:30AM at Our Lady of Visitation Church, 3172 South Road.
