WAINSCOTT, Michael “Mike”, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 at the age of 63. He was born in Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late Ronald S. and Nancy F. (nee Bode) Wainscott.
Mike is survived by his loving daughter Angie (AJ Demaegd) Wainscott. Dear brother of Mark, Matt, & Dan Wainscott and Traci (Jason) Combs. Cherished God Son of Jerrie Witzgall. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Michael “Mike” “Wainy” is a Cincinnati (west-side) native, born at Good Sam hospital. He attended grade school at St. Teresa, class of 1977. He attended high school at Elder, class of 1981. He then attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in 1985 with a focus on journalism. He wrote for Sports for the Cincinnati Post, as well as a couple of smaller papers out of state. He ultimately settled back down in Cincinnati, married, and had his daughter Angie in September of 1998. He worked for TruGreen Chemlawn when Angie was young, then later started at Fifth Third Bank, where he spent most of his career. He worked on various teams over the many years at Fifth Third. His “work family” kept him there all these years.
He had several passions in his life. He was known for his sense of humor and ability to make people laugh.
He was an avid sports fan and had an incredible memory for MLB and NFL statistics, players, and teams. His love of the game extended into fantasy leagues, and he took great pride in forming high-performing teams. He loved sharing this hobby with others and could talk for hours about sports.
Poker was another one of his passions. He played in a poker league with friends where he valued the meaningful friendships formed and made several trips to Las Vegas to compete in the World Series of Poker.
Family meant everything to him. The holiday season held a special place in his heart because it meant family gatherings. He cherished family vacations and treasured every moment spent making memories with his daughter.
Above all else, his deepest love and greatest joy in life was being a father to Angie. He spoke of her often and with immense pride, never missing a chance to brag about the person she had become.
He will be so deeply missed by his many friends and family. The memories shared with him with be forever cherished.
Visitation at B.J. Meyer Sons Funeral Home on FRIDAY, January 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on SATURDAY, January 17, 2026, at 11:00AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, ADDRESS.
Burial at St. Joseph New Cemetery following mass on Saturday.
