Mary F. Grothaus

GROTHAUS, MARY FRANCES (nee FIELDERS)

Beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Grothaus, loving mother of Michelle (Ed) Neyer, David Grothaus, and Melissa (Dale) Hopewell, devoted grandmother to David Michael and Sean Michael. Passed peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 95.

She met “the love of her life” Raymond (Ray) while working as a secretary at Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co., where Ray was a meter man (electrician) for 46 years and they married. During this time, they formed lasting loving relationships with many friends.

Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. Lawrence Church in Price Hill for more than 70 years, where she was baptized and married. Always a devoted stay at home mother, she was involved in the school and church. As a Scout Leader, she loved spending time with her girl scouts, and they loved her as well. St. Lawrence provided her family a strong foundation for their Catholic faith. Her commitment to a Catholic education for her children and grandchildren at St. Lawrence, St. Catherine, Seton, Elder and LaSalle was a passion.

Her lifelong devotion to her Lord and the Blessed Mother was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and extended family. You never saw her without her rosary. Throughout her life she experienced many hardships and loss of loved ones. Her God and Blessed Mary were the constant strength and comfort to her throughout her life.

Funeral mass will be Monday, Nov. 10 at 10AM at St. Lawrence Church. Celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in loving memory of Mary to St. Lawrence Church, 3680 Warsaw Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45205.
