Martha Steele

Steele, Martha A. (nee Friedmann), 95, died August 6, 2016. Widow of John R. Steele. Mother of Tim (Paula Plummer), Sally (Bill Hahn), Dennis (Denise Rinear) and Mary Eileen (Dean Shetter). Grandmother to Molly Calvert and Amy Steele (Mike Arth), Adam Hahn (Amy). Katie Morris (Jeff) and Jennifer Letavec (Craig), John Steele (Dr. Kavita Tahilani), Ben, Allison and Emily Steele and Justin (Megan) and Josh Shetter. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Edward and Hilda Friedmann, three brothers, Edward, Tom and Bob Friedmann. Martha had many fine skills. Her original goal was to become a registered nurse, instead she stayed at home to help with the care of her handicapped brother. She was an outstanding secretary, working at one of the major advertising firms in Cincinnati. She was an incredible seamstress and later a volunteer knitter for several groups. Travel was her true passion, followed closely by card playing. And her goetta making was second-to-none! She was a quiet contributor to many causes. She had a huge family of cousins and many friends, all of whom will miss her sweet manner and lady-like ways. Friends and family are invited to her viewing on Friday, Aug. 12, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Meyer Funeral Home, 5864 Bridgetown Rd. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am on Saturday, Aug. 13, at St. Jude Church, 5924 Bridgetown Road.
