Margaret "Peg" C. Downing

DOWNING, Margaret C. “Peg”, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Vernon and Bertha Mae (nee Webb) Whitton.

Peg is survived by her loving sons Mike (Beth) and Steve (Barb) Downing. Cherished grandma Garrett (Christy), Chris, Matt and Dan (Kelsey) Downing. Treasured G.G. of Betty, Will, Addie, Finley, and Brady. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Peg is preceded in passing (1996) by her devoted husband of 42 years Gene Downing, along with her dear siblings Thelma, Bertha May, Anna Lee, Vernon Jr., and John.

Peg lived her life on the west side of Cincinnati, growing up on 8th & State and spending her adult years in Price Hill, Western Hills and Harrison after graduating from Western Hills High School. She was an active member of the Resurrection School PTA before her long time employment in retail sales for St. Lawrence Bakery. Peg worked tirelessly as Gene’s caretaker in the final years of his life. Her senior years following Gene’s passing were filled with travel and enjoying her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was endlessly generous with her family and always enjoyed family activities and get-togethers.

Visitation will be held at on THURSDAY, February 19, 2026, at ST. Teresa of Avila, 1175 Overlook Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45238, from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 720 E Pete Rose Wy Suite 330, Cincinnati, OH 45202 or the The Chip Terry Fund for First Responders at (www.thechipterryfund.org/).
