Joan Marie Ackerman

ACKERMAN, Joan Marie (nee Hizer), beloved wife of J. Paul Ackerman, peacefully died on Christmas, December 25, 2012, at the age of 69. Joan is the loving mother of four sons: Michael (Katie), Peter (Jenny), Matthew (Sarah), and Andrew, as well as devoted grandmother of Henry and Mabel. Dear daughter of Monica and the late Elbert Hizer, sister of Patricia (Roman) Schneider, Kathleen (Tom) Staska, Barbara (Ed) Jansen and Gregory (Joan); dear daughter-in-law of the late Angela and Jack Ackerman, dear sister-in-law of Barbara (Larry) Kallmeyer, Jane (Michael) Hoffman, Martha (Larry) Swallow, and the late Mary Angela (David) Samow, and loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. A deeply committed community volunteer, Joan was honored in 2004 with the prestigious St. Francis Xavier Magis award for her dedicated years of service on the St. Xavier High School Mothers Club Board. Joan was also an avid golfer with Western Hills Country Club where she served in various capacities including running the Junior Golf program for several years. Her later years were spent volunteering at Bayley Place. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday December 31, 2012, with visitation immediately preceding from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, at St. Antoninus Church (1500 Linneman Rd). Suggested memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association - Greater Cincinnati Chapter or Right to Life of Cincinnati.
