PETRIE, Jean (nee Dafoe), born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 25, 1923 to Harold Dafoe and Mary E. Ott, both deceased. Married to William J. Petrie on May 1, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. Loving mother of Toby (Michelle), Debbie (Michael) Cappel, Mary Kay (Jerry) Studer, Rebecca (Edward) Schoemer, Timothy J., Melissa (Frank) Hunckler, Paul F., Terrence (Sheryl), Patrick (Pam) and the late William Petrie, Jr. Devoted grandmother of 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Marjorie Wigen of Bay City, MI and Marie Kane of Saginaw, MI. Graduated from St. Mary Cathedral High School, Saginaw, MI. Full time homemaker and mother, but also very active in Church and Community affairs. Moved from Saginaw, MI to Cincinnati in May of 1957 to provide for schooling of the deaf children in the family. Active in affairs at St. Rita's School, Our Lady of Victory and St. Antoninus Parish. In the early 1960's helped to start the Christian Family Movement in Cincinnati, taught CCD (PREP) classes at OLV and St. Antoninus, member of the Archdiocese Family Life Bureau and with her husband presented CANA conferences throughout the archdiocese. Became active in the Cursillo movement in 1964, becoming one of the first lay directors for Womens' Cursillos. At St. Antoninus helped to develop the Adult Social Group and served as president of the organization for several years. A member of the Martha's group, served as an Eucharistic Minister and Lector and assisted her husband with conducting the RCIA program. A life-long member of the Delhi Community Council, serving as a officer many times and as president when the organization was disbanded. Passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Visitiation St. Antoninus Church on Saturday from 9:00AM to 10:45AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM.
