James Wherle

WHERLE, James Michael. Beloved husband of Cheryl Wherle (nee Heid) for 49 years. Loving father of William L. (Emily) and Mark E. (Stephanie) Wherle. Devoted grandfather of Brooke, Ethan, Charlotte and Madeline. Dear brother of Mary Lee (Tim) Skelly and the late Robert Wherle. Brother in law of William V. (Shelly) Heid and Karen L. Heid. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends. In his youth Jim was a member of St. Lawrence Deanery where he became the men's softball coach for a team that stayed together for three decades! He was an active member of St. Jude Parish for 45 years, touching many lives. He coached both girl's youth softball and women's softball, and assisted in many kids sports as well as youth group sports. He volunteered at Bingo every Friday night selling "rip offs", ushered 11:00 Mass every Sunday, worked the yearly festival as the money collector, and was involved with Boy Scouts. He also volunteered for the St. X Football program and Xtravaganza's Art Booth. For many years he organized a yearly trip to Mammoth Cave or an Indiana Park for his friends and families. He retired from Davitt and Hanser Musical Distributors working in sales. He loved the Cincinnati Reds, visiting casinos, playing cards, bowling and seeing his grandchildren. His best memory was taking them to Disney World and on a Disney Cruise. Passed away peacefully on July 3, 2020 at 77 years of age, after a long illness of diabetes complications. Visitation at MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Bridgetown Rd., on TUESDAY, July 14, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial Mass at St. Jude Church, 5924 Bridgetown Rd., on WEDNESDAY, July 15, at 10:30 AM.
