BUZEK, James C., Loving father of Tim (Linda) and Michael Buzek. Devoted grandfather of Courtney and Chris and great grandfather of Serenity and Chris Jr. Dear brother of Mary Claire (the late Bill) Vornhagen, Lois Ann (the late Jack) Keller, Barbara (John) Leshney, the late Ken Buzek, Kathleen Buzek and David Buzek. Brother in law of Joan Buzek. Also survived by his many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A graduate of Elder High School, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957. After successfully completing his coursework at the Air Training Command at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, Jim first specialized as an aircraft mechanic and later qualified as a flight engineer with the 302nd Troop Carrier Wing. Jim was Honorably Discharged January 1965, as an Airman First Class after serving as both an active duty and reserve airman. After his stint in the Air Force, Jim earned his private pilot's license. He loved to fly and enjoyed taking friends and family for flights around southern Ohio. Jim also flew vintage remote-control planes and participated in area RC air shows. On the ground, Jim was passionate about sport cars, especially his 1959, 1967 and 1981 Corvettes. He would often reminisce about the incredible speed and dynamic capabilities of these fantastic cars. Jim also was an avid golfer. During the spring and summer months, you could find him at the local golf course on Friday afternoons squeezing in a quick nine holes before going home. Jim loved to sing. He was an enthusiastic member of the Men's Southern Gateway Chorus for several years and later served as its president for a time. In addition, Jim would travel to Louisville, Kentucky to sing with the Thoroughbreds Men's Chorus, too. For most of his career, Jim was an award-winning agent with the New York Life Insurance Company until he retired in 2004. Passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 83 years of age. No Visitation. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ignatius Church, 5222 North Bend Rd., on Saturday, at 10:30AM.
