Hermina G. Dawes

DAWES, Hermina G. (nee Gehlenborg). Slipped peacefully from this life, on her terms, in her 77th year on February 11, 2013. Preceded in death by her husband John P. Dawes. Her memory will always be treasured by children Judy (David) Flaig, David (Cathy) Dawes and Susan Dawes (Bob Berberich), grandchildren Brandon (Debbie) Flaig and Ted Flaig, as well as her great-grandchildren Sophia and Eliot Flaig. Hermina is survived by her sisters Juanita Johnson (St. Augustine, FL), Eleanor Dumler (Cincinnati, OH) and sister-in-law Helen Dawes (Cincinnati, OH) and preceded in death by sister Rose Haas. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. "Mrs. Dawes" was a second mother to many of her children's friends, neighborhood kids and Girl Scouts and was well-known as the "Lunch Lady" at the OLL cafeteria for many years. Hermie and John enjoyed their golden years on the west coast of Florida, finding adventure and traveling with their many friends there. Hermina moved to St. Augustine to be with her twin sister after John's death. Together again, their ashes will be scattered in the Gulf. Celebration of Life will be Sunday, February 24, 2013, at MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Bridgetown Road, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, followed by a memorial service.
