MEYER, Gerald E. ‘Jerry’ Devoted and beloved husband of the late Margaret Meyer (Nee Smith). Loving father of Jeff (Sandy) Meyer, Jim Meyer, Jennifer (Mike) Stanis, Julie (Steve) Rolfes and Joyce (Ralph) Arlinghaus. Proud grandfather of Allison (Joe), Chelsea (John), Emily (Justin), Jake (Angie), Elisabeth, Michael, Nicholas, Derek, Cody, Austin, Tyler and great grandfather of Aurora, Cecelia and Penelope. Dear cousin of Janet McCabe and cherished friend to many. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 87 years of age. Jerry was raised on Sunset Avenue in Price Hill. He graduated from St William Grade School and Elder High School (Class of ’53). He attended Xavier University, graduated with a degree in Business Administration and became a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He married the girl next door, Margie Smith, and they were happily married until her death in 2006. He continued wearing his wedding ring until the end... As he said, he promised to love and honor her all the days of his life. Jerry was a good family man and was truly a friend to all. For over a dozen years, he “hosted” lunch at Bridgetown LaRosa’s, all were welcome and none allowed to pay, this was truly his treat! He had a great love for music and appreciated the “effortless” singing of professionals. He attended the Cincinnati Pops concerts for many years and enjoyed Broadway Shows and their soundtracks. Beginning with his years riding the bus to and from work, he developed a love of literature and at all times would be reading both a classic book and a popular novel. Jerry had a wonderful childhood apparently playing non-stop baseball with neighborhood friends. He loved professional sports including the NBA and would happily explain details of why a certain team or player was his favorite. But most of all a Cincinnati sports fan, Jerry enjoyed watching the Reds when they were winning, and was happy with the current success of our football team who were no longer the “Beagles.”
Dad, you touched many lives and you will be missed until we meet again.
