Elizabeth A. “Betty” Stewart

July 21, 1949-January 9, 2025

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Stewart (nee Schroder), age 75 years, passed away January 9, 2025, after a long health struggle. Beloved wife for 40 years of the late Clyde Stewart Cherished daughter of the late Ruth (nee Sloughfy) and the late Robert Schroder. Dear sister of Jack (Barb) Schroder and Susan (Tom) Delisio. Devoted and fun aunt to Katie (Colin) Waller, Sam (Abby) Delisio, Annie (Colin Ehlenbach) Delisio, Jane Delisio and Jackie Delisio. Doting great-aunt to Louise, Max, Oliver, Dean, and Dominic. Spoiler to several pups, especially Rudy. Survived by many more relatives and friends.

Betty was a 1967 graduate of Western Hills High School, and a proud Bearcat, having graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1971. She made a career in social work in several capacities including Meals on Wheels and Hamilton County Senior Services.

In her private life, Betty was a social butterfly and had many groups of friends. She never met a stranger, and was generous to a fault, often showering friends with thoughtful gifts “just because”. She also enjoyed pursuing several hobbies. She was a master of counted cross-stitch, an avid gardener, an adventurous cook, and a legendary baker and candy-maker. Friends and family certainly looked forward to receiving her cookie and candy gifts for Christmas!

Holidays were always for celebrating. Halloween was her favorite by far, and Betty delighted in dressing up as a witch (complete with green skin and cackle) to pass out candy to the neighborhood trick-or-treaters. She often hosted Thanksgiving and Father’s Day at their home.

A long-time member of Hyde Park Community Methodist Church, Betty found comfort in her Bible study, and had a remarkable knowledge of the Good Book, able to recite chapter and verse at will or upon request. She was a life-long Reds fan, and spent many years as a Rosie Red. Betty often attended games, and created core memories for her nieces and nephews when she treated them to a behind-the-scenes tour of Riverfront Stadium!

In later years, Betty and her husband enjoyed road trips to the countryside and small towns. They often travelled the Midwest in search of covered bridges.
