Edward Arthur Burke, age 104, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Lou Hudepohl. Dear father of Pat (the late Marty) Schaffer, Pam (the late John) Herman, Jennifer (Greg) Schmidt, Jayne Snelling and the late James Edward Burke. Loving grandfather of Amy (Ed) Crotty, Tom Herman, Julie (Brian) Mullen, Chris (Christa) Schaffer, Sarah (Brian) Bolan, Matthew (Heather) Schaffer, Michael (Carla) Snelling, Eric (Maria) Snelling, Jim (Carolyn) Herman, Rachel (Eric) Ortman, David Snelling, Adam (Jen) Schmidt, Lindsay (Dave) Cowans and great grandfather of twenty-six. Devoted brother of the late Robert John (Betty) Burke. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Major Burke served his country in the US Army during World War II as commander of the 821st Tank Destroyer Battalion attached to the 29th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and French Legion of Honor, as well as numerous combat medals and awards. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10380 and Kiwanis Club of Cheviot-Westwood. He lived his life to the fullest for faith, family and country. Visitation at Meyer Funeral Home, 5864 Bridgetown Road, on Thursday, June 27th, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.
