Born and raised on the west side, he attended St. Martin’s and Elder. In high school, he met Donna, the love of his life. He prioritized their marriage, modeling unconditional love, respect and trust to his children and grandchildren.
Mechanically gifted, he supported his young family as a field engineer. In 1978, he started a side business renting portable signs. At age 43, he ramped it up to full time, renaming it ABC Signs and growing it into a multimillion business. He thoroughly enjoyed working for himself, solving problems, helping his team and meeting customers. His passion for entrepreneurship ignited the spark in his children and several have followed in his footsteps. Thanks to his oldest son, his business still thrives today.
Cliff’s greatest legacy was his family. He taught his children and grandchildren the wonders and joys of life, pouring his love into them. From the very beginning, he welcomed each in law as part of the family, making them feel completely at home. Cliff also shared a deep and personal relationship with each of his 16 grandchildren. He embraced and celebrated everyone’s uniqueness, making each person feel valued and loved.
He was exceptionally kind, selfless, welcoming and patient with a remarkable ability to appreciate each person for exactly who they were. He’ll be missed by his family and remembered by all who knew him.
