Charles V Chesnut

CHESNUT, Charles Vernon, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Harrison, OH on March 27, 2024.  Charlie graduated from Cincinnati Taft High School in 1960.  He met the love of his life in Cincinnati in 1955, a love affair that would last until her death in 2011 (56 years)! They married in 1962, and shortly thereafter moved to the West Side where they would remain for the rest of their lives.  Dad worked at Kuhlman Heating & Cooling from 1962 - 1982, earning his HVAC Technician Designation.  In 1982, he became the Director of the Maintenance Department for the Covington Public School System, a position he held until his retirement in 2002.

He loved his family above all, sacrificing his health so his family could have a better life. It was not uncommon for him to work nights or weekends after his normal 40 hour week to earn extra money for vacations!  Mom & Dad loved to travel, routinely packing up the car to head West for Yellowstone, Yosemite, Mt. Rushmore or the Grand Canyon (just to name a few of the locations we visited as kids).  They loved Hilton Head Island as well,  vacationing there every year when we were teenagers.  He was an avid sports fan (he loved the Reds, Bengals, Bearcats his entire life).  He loved his four grandchildren more than anything, truly appreciating the special bond he had with each.  Dad will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  We take great solace in knowing he is back in the arms of the love of his life…

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Chesnut (nee Metcalf), his parents Earnest & Ruth Chesnut (nee Boering), his brother Carl & his sisters Anna Bryant and Mary King.

He is survived by his sons Todd (Barb) and Brandon Chesnut, and his sister Phyllis Perkins.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Blake, Camryn, Zoey & Max and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Charlie will be held on Friday April 5, 2024 at Meyer Funeral Home 5864 Bridgetown Road, Cincinnati, OH 45248 from 11:00AM until time of Funeral Service at 1:00PM.  A burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
