Bernard “Jack” Stahl, cherished husband of Nancy Stahl (Funk) for 54 years, peacefully departed this life at the age of 77 on Monday, June 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his adoring children: David (Terri) Stahl, Shari Miley (Erich Lenz), Robin (Terry) Jacobs, and Jaime (Eric) Fry; his devoted grandchildren: Connor Stahl, Owen Stahl, Corey Miley, Zach Miley, Taylor Jacobs, Ryan Jacobs, Danielle Fry, and Josie Fry; as well as his brother Jerry (Janet) Stahl, niece Gina (Joseph) Yeazell, and numerous other beloved family members and friends.
Jack’s journey began at Elder High School, where he graduated in 1964. He embarked on a remarkable radio career, starting as the evening DJ at WSAI-AM in 1968 after earning his degree from the University of Cincinnati. For 53 years, Jack, known affectionately as ‘Dr. Boogie,’ graced the Cincinnati airwaves with timeless tunes, captivating listeners across the city. His radio legacy spanned various stations including WUBE-AM, WKRC-AM, WGRR-FM, and WDJO-AM, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his audience. Jack bid farewell to his illustrious radio career in June 2023, retiring from WDJO-AM after decades of unparalleled success.
In addition to his radio endeavors, Jack served the City of Cincinnati with distinction as a police officer for 26 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1999. Throughout his tenure, he mentored countless young officers and forged enduring friendships, leaving a legacy of service and camaraderie.
Yet, Jack’s greatest pride and joy were his family. He shared a profound love for Cincinnati sports, with his children, as an unwavering fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. In fact, one of his last words were “Who-Dey” after receiving his final holy communion. His boundless humor and quick wit endeared him to all who crossed his path, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those who knew him. Our beloved “Jack” will be dearly missed.
