KESSINGER, Bernadine Ethel (nee Shults). Beloved wife of Charles and dedicated mother of Cheryl, Charles, Jr. (Randy) and Charmaine Kessinger. Preceded in death by her cherished husband of 55 years, Charles and her precious daughter Cheryl Ann. Dear grandmother of Rachel (Scott) Raeder and Danielle Kessinger, also survived by her sisters, Ruthene (Larry) Kitchen and Normagene (Gene) Henry as well as sister-in-law, Mary (Bill) Upton, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and dedicated friends. Passed away peacefully on December 25, 2015 with family by her side. Bernadine was originally from Missouri; however, was a long time resident of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a proud pastor's daughter who rose to the challenge of raising a child with disabilities. Bernadine was a pioneer in the disability field for over 30 years, tirelessly advocating for thousands of children with special needs. Her motto was 'Keep your Eye on the Child'. One of the highlights of her career was being honored as a Cincinnati Enquirer Women of the Year, Class of 1990. She proudly attended every Women of the Year luncheon thereafter. Mom never met a stranger, was proud to call herself a special education teacher and principal and would pack a suitcase in a minute if our father said 'Let's go!' She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years traveling throughout the world with her husband - her soul mate.
